Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Yes folks. Your eyes are not deceiving you. I have completed the Newsboy Cap tonight. I was so thrilled with the finished object that I actually decided to take a picture of it with me modeling it for you all. Not too bad for self portraits, hunh?

This is a super easy, super quick knit! I started it Monday and finished a mere 4 days later. The body of the cap is knitted on 10.5 needles so that definitely helped with the speed.

I have a very good friend, I won't name names, that blundered a month or so ago when I mentioned her referring to this pattern for help with a pattern of her own. She immediately informed me that she didn't like the pattern. I smiled and looked at her and said, "Well I was planning on knitting it." Oops. Needless to say she was very embarassed and tried to dig herself out of it. I just told her not to worry about it because she didn't have to like the hat because I did.

Well my friend hasn't seen the finished hat yet but she did see it in person with the body being completed. She said she actually liked it much better in person. To me it doesn't matter if she really likes it or not, I'm not one to rule someone out of my like because we have a difference in opinion. I do enjoy teasing her about it though.

I'm really glad I knitted this up, instead of knitting it with my friend Lisa (whom I'm teaching how to knit). I encountered an error in the pattern and am very happy to have caught it now, instead of sending Lisa home to knit and have her trying to figure out what the heck was wrong on her own. I'm meeting up with her tomorrow after she gets off from work to catch a movie and then teach her how to cable. I'll even wear my new hat proudly!

  3. Awesome hat! When I saw the fab finished hat (you look great in it!), I thought, well I'll bet Ms. S is going to change her mind about that hat. I think you should knit her one. What a fast knit too.

  4. You are stylin' my dear! I can't believe how great that looks on you. Good job. That cinches it, I'll be knitting up one from some stash yarn too. Ms. S will for sure be eating her words...she's a big girl & will admitt that one must not judge a pattern by it's cover picture, ha ha! (She knows I love her, right?? And besides, this is so durn similar to the one she made, she really can't help but like it now.)

  5. I see all of y'all are talking about me. Yes, I am eating my words. I like Deb's hat very much. And, the version in the book did not scream "knit me" to me when I first saw it. That is why the book is still on the shelf on the store, and not in my library.

And yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions. In this instance, I believe that a good knitter who picks a great yarn can totally change the perceived outcome of a pattern for the better. You rock Deb... and you can have the whole world tease me if you want. Kim and MB....I still love you ladies too. LOL!!

Shameka you know I still love ya and thank you for the compliment. I'm glad I could help change your mind about the hat. I'm honored you have taken time from all your fun in Trinidad to comment. :-)
