First, I want to thank everyone who commented to my last post. It's nice to know there is a place where others can relate to my anguish over a sweater that doesn't fit properly. I am happy to report that on Thursday night I sat down and attached the second sleeve. It is an official FO now. I did try it on again and while it does fit in some places, it doesn't in others and that's ok. It is still wearable and maybe I can snap a picture of myself in it in the near future.
Friday night I decided I was ready to reward myself with starting a new little project for the summer. Like my sis, I am knitting the Lacy Skirt with Bows from "Greetings From Knit Cafe". (I can be a lemming too.) I wasn't sure if I was going to knit the skirt in two separate pieces or in the round. So I thought that until I decided, I would go ahead and knit up the initial lace pieces. I mean, I did have until I got to the fifth piece to really make my decision because at that point the pieces are knitted into one piece.
On Sunday the verdict came to me. I decided to knit them seperately, but at the same time. I am actually a little further along than this picture below shows. I didn't feel like pulling out the camera again. I am using Elsebeth Lavold's Hempathy yarn in colorway Red Roses. There is ribbon that will go with this skirt that I will share once Mr. Mailman delivers it to me from South Carolina.
Are you doing it as a skirt or as a tunic like at the Knit Cafe that you saw? It's a great color. I wish I had made the two separate pieces at the same time. I almost did that, but the cable I had free wasn't long enough. Mr. Postman is sure to deliver the beginning of next week. My lys in Georgetown has the ribbon on hold for me to come pick up on Friday.
ReplyDeleteOOOh... The lace looks so lovely. I love these little girly details. It is so good to break up the monotony of wool sweater knitting. The color is gorgeous. I can't wait to see it in person. Hmmm... do you need any lace stitch markers for that pattern???
ReplyDeleteMB - I was going to mention a possible surprise twist with the Lacy Skirt to be announced when finished but at the last minute I decided not to. I wanted to make sure it fit ok. So yes, I am still making it a top, instead of a skirt. Surprise! LOL If it turns out well, I will make it as a skirt.
ReplyDeleteShameka - Thanks for the offer on the lace stitch markers. Unfortunately, or fortunately, this pattern is so simple and I am almost done with it. Only the bottom part of the skirt is lace - the rest is stockinette.
Is that the same skirt that Mary Beth is knitting? No matter I want in on this fashion hit. I think you will look fantastic in it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love that skirt & love the color too. Me hearts it.
ReplyDeleteYou and MB need to have a fashion show together when you're done. I love the color and the bottom photo with a shot of the book is great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun challenge this should be. I have used the hempathy yarn. It has a wonderful drape that should be great for that skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love this project no matter how you wear it. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
