Love Affair

I am so very sad to say that my love affair with one Jamie Fraser came to an end! For those of you who don't know who Jamie is, he is the main male character in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series books. Sigh.

I finished the final installment, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, on Monday evening. What an awesome series. I'm just saddened that there is no more Jamie to fantasize, I mean read, about anymore. Can't discuss the particulars of the book because my sis hasn't finished reading them yet and I don't want to spoil anything for her. But I do want to give a huge thanks to my sis for turning me on to these books. I never imagined I would devour 1,400 page books the way I have these.

I guess it's a good thing I have this to keep me occupied right now....

This is where Mary Jane stood as of last night. I stopped working on the body and decided to knock out the sleeves and collar because I'm afraid of running out of yarn. I tried it on last night and right now the length of the body is good if I have to alter the pattern. Guess we'll see how things turn out with it.

  1. The top is looking good. I tend to do the sleeves first so I don't have to deal with the big body putting weight on me. I'm tired and full of sugar so that might not have made sense! I read the first Outlander book and while I loved the Jaime character I didn't like the heroine or a few of the more graphic scenes so I stopped there. Feel free to spoil the rest of the book for me since I don't plan to read them. :-)

  2. My strategy for knitting when I am worried about running out of yarn is to knit faster so I get to the end before I run out. I know it makes no sense but it works for me. :)

  3. I think I'm a book or two behind. Is the series finished? I got bogged down in the daughter's tale.

Nice knitting. How did the sewing go?

  5. I love how MJ is turning out. Fingers crossed that you have enough yarn to finish.

  6. The comments here are pretty funny. The first book in the series is the most graphic, but then it toned down overall. I'm almost done with #4 Drums of Autumn. Love 'em all.

I get the knitting faster & then actually having enough yarn. When you knit faster the yarn tension tightens up just a tad, therefore getting you a wee bit more of the yardage.

I ditto the verra pretty sweater comment!

  7. Oh I know who Jamie Fraser is. I read the first two books a few years ago.
I'm behind on my blog reading but I did see your last one with the three hats, very nice!
I'm still working on the baby blanket between other small projects but I messed up again. I'm pathetic. I really shouldn't knit and watch TV. haha

  8. I haven't read any Gabaldon but my MIL loves them. Mary Jane is looking great. It would still look good even with shorter sleeves.
